End.....of the beginning

Hello, just in case you've been wondering where I have disappeared to in the last 2 weeks.  Well, I've been studying for my exams at LCB.  There is a written part where they test on your product knowledge : food science, history, components of a sauce, etc,  as well as a practical examination where you walk in empty handed to a kitchen, draw a number, receive a blank recipe (since day one, our recipes only list the ingredients, no methods).  And start something from scratch.  Double that for cuisine as well as for pastry.  It is quite nerve-wrecking!  Luckily, these chosen dishes/pastries are from what we have had for practicals before.  However, doing it once is not the same as perfecting it!

Glad to say, I think I did pretty ok.  Pass for sure, but I wanna do better.  There is no honours or pass with merit certificates here, but there are top 5 students from each field.  I don't know if I would make it there, some of the students are pretty good, but I think I'm in pretty good shape, and I've definitely learnt a lot in the last 3 months which I will put into good use for sure.  That is what I'm happy with already!!  Thanks for all your support and encouragement all this while!

Will definitely bake a deluge of pastries (they keep well after I'm gone) in SG when back, also a few rounds of dinner à la française!

yay!!! Congrats! Am sure you will do well. Am looking forward to your return. I should get you to bring back some plants. Hehe.

Don't worry...you'll be doing lots of cooking for sure. The hot stoves of rumia will be hot once again. It feels almost like we are one of these exclusive restaurants that open only 6 days in a year. Haha.
