I'm still in BKK, I've sent out a few resumes to a few people in Thailand. I went for an interview with the Grand Hyatt Erawan, spoke to the Exec Chef and Exec Sous Chef, it went very well, but they admitted visa could be a problem, and will check with HR director. The next day, I got an email from them that they will not be able to get me a visa (or rather, they dont' wanna bend the rules too much to get one for me). However, the silver lining is that they know the Exec Chef in Hyatt SG for Mezzanine, and will forward a message on my behalf.
Sands has not come back to me yet, though, they did say that the selection process is prob in April, (but not sure yet), and the restaurants to be open in June/July.
Sure it's not my year this year!
In the end, I'm starting to think, is it a good time to start my own thing now? I will prob need 1 yr, 1yr + to overcome the learning curve of running a place. I thought I will get this eased out with a few yrs of experience working. Or I can just make it a steeper curve now, in the latter half of this life I've left.
On a lighter note, hardly light at all actually, is being in the middle of the red shirt protests in BKK. One end, SG does not exercise (or maybe not allowed (??) to) its civic conscientiousness, and other end, Thailand takes this too far. Spill donated blood?? They could be given to blood banks!
