Loy Krathong

Tonight is the Loy Krathong festival.  I made a trip down to the last BTS station on the Silom line, Saphan Taksin to partake of the merry-making.  There was a huge crowded, noisy and much like a fun fair.  Incidentally this is also the Thai Valentine's Day.

In case anyone wants to know what a krathong look like, it's made of banana stems and folded leaves and flowers.  Some of the patterns are really elaborate!  I took a pic of mine before I let it float away in the Chao Phraya river.   To let go of ill-luck and everything bad, to start anew, and good wishes for the future.

Afterwhich, there was some beautiful fireworks for about 30 mins or so.

see you.
