Lisboa

Guess what, my hotel room comes with free wi-fi, so I've the chance to connect with friends during my trip. Well, it does make travelling alone much easier.

I shall update my trip in greater detail very soon, but so far, it's been quite alright, we had mostly sun, a few passing showers, and winter for them at 15C is COLD, wait till they try Parisian winter at -5C! Vain as most southern Europeans are, all of them decked in woollen scarves, even padded jackets, beanies... man, I don't know what they'll wear in Paris. But still they don't dress as well as Spaniards, who have more flair. Largely, the feel of Lisbon has been mostly working class. Then again, I've been walking around mostly in Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baxia, Rossio, Alfama and Belem. There're more modern parts of town to the north and northeast of the city, will check it out soon. So actually, 6 days may not be that short a time in the end!

I had an excellent excellent excellent (yes, the emphasis was intended) meal at Olivier Restaurante with a glass of wine, at slightly over 40euros. In Paris, this would've been a 2 star place, and I would have paid 70euros alone just for lunch (and double it for dinner).

It comes with 5 (yes, not 1 not 2, but 5) starters at 12 euros. I had a swordfish carpaccio, beef carpaccio with roquette, a light cheese puff pastry coated with honey, a guacamole on a tortilla crisp, mousse of foie gras with red onion jam, and olive oil/balsamique and bread, of course. I next had a filet of black-foot pork with apricot chutney sauce, and a side of delicious yet fluffy reddish-brownish rice. Think wagyu-pork. It's melt-in-your-mouth, oozes of unctuous goodness that despite what calories charts tell you, it's gotta be good for your body. My red was a light Vinha do Mouro, went very well with the pork.

I skipped dessert, all quite typical restaurant desserts, and had an espresso instead.
