Arrival

I didn't get to update my post since last week. Right after my last post, I received a call from the French Embassy to inform me to bring my passport down the next morning for processing and collected it on Friday morning. Yippee! I flew out on Friday night on the A380.

Since then, it's been quite a blur. Right after I arrived on Saturday morning in Paris, I had to get my luggage at Terminal 1, and run off to Terminal 2 to meet a friend who was flying off in less than 2 hrs. He graciously offered his place to me while he's away for a work trip in the US.

I got to his place near Sentier and basically crashed out. I slept a little on the plane, but econ is still econ! In between small side trips, I tried to sleep as much as I could. I met up my ex-boss for a late lunch at Chez Francis at Place de l'Alma. A good starter of 6 Normandy oysters, a tuna tartare, and a shared bottle of Muscadet. I spent Sat night strolling along the animated streets of Bastille. Sunday morning saw most places closed except for a few shops along Rue Montorgueil. Bought some supplies (fruits, cheese, ham, butter, coffee, bread and croissants!) and come home for a simple brunch.

It's perfect weather in Paris these days. Sunshine, warm not hot during the day, but it gets a little cold at night and in the mornings. Summer is officially over. I can't imagine the cold as winter approaches. This is when I miss (South east) Asia. I'll need some more warm clothing by then.

But I'll always take comfort in the sensory pleasures that Paris has to offer, including macaroons and other treats!

In addition to the postcard, please can I have a box of Laduree macarons - if possible - when you return to Singapore (although goodness knows when!). I ate a box of 7-day old, mouldy-looking Laduree macarons once and they were totally "lao hong".
