So ended my first day back in school, perhaps my last school I'll ever go to!
Got there, there were plenty of asian students actually, from the accent, quite a number of mainland Chinese. Disappointed that there weren't any lockers left, except the ones facing the rest area (where tables and chairs are, and like a meeting point), which is quite pointless, cos' each time I have to change, I've to pop into the enclosed area and come out again.
The school is quite small, and is more aged looking. Definitely nothing to compare to Bangkok's branch. Equipment and all are quite used, but the good thing is, there's a helper to clean up your pots and preparation bowls.
Ah, and there're only 2 of us taking this Professional Perfectionnment. She's a young Spanish, from Barcelona, and worked in kitchens for quite a while, doesn't speak French, but some English. It's ok, cos' there's an English translator for demo class. She'll go on to do the same module for Pastry as well.
Now, comes the shock. While most of our lessons in BKK, Chef demo'ed 3 dishes, and in practicals, we produce 1. Here, Chef demo'ed 4 dishes, and we had to produce 3!!!! It was a madhouse, luckily we had the working bench to ourselves.
I guess that's how it is in real kitchen. You don't stop. It's fine though, at least I'm working to push dishes out, while during the short stint I had, was a lot of prep work, which in the end gets thrown away.
The beauty of being in Paris, esp during summer, oh well, end of summer, is when you squeeze out the rush hour traffic from the metro, you emerged out of the underground in the fresh cool evening air. The sky is still bright, and there's a certain kind of promise in the air. People around you, hurrying along, making plans, some smile over lovey-dovey phone calls, some disappointed, some frustrated, some excited, some looking forward to be with family again, some a little lost, some a little sad.
Here's a picture taken from my window looking over the famous blue-grey roofs of Paris. Bon apetit, messieurs-dames!

is it the same one shown in Julia and Julie? Anyway, the weather looks perfect. Gerry can't take leave in Dec, but I think it's most likely than not that I will try to make a trip to Paris, maybe 3 days. Hopefully there will be tickets left on the Eurostar since it's Christmas and all.
It's prob not, the school moved into it's current location about 10yrs ago.
Check out the website http://www.eurostar.com and you can start booking the tickets in advanced already, in fact cheaper the earlier you do it! Let me know your dates!
isn't it all subject to whether you will be in paris?
if i'm not in paris, i'll still be in france.
