Possesions

Someone once said, "If you have too much possessions, they end up possessing you." While I don't actually have that much (again, this is subjective, but there are people with more), and I don't feel possessed by them (i.e. I define being possessed by your objects in the inability to live apart from them), I still feel that I wish I have a space to house them properly. It will be a waste of money to re-buy everything from scratch at every new place that I live in. Already I've given up so much away (and I'm happy doing so, if the beneficiaries find good use for them), right now, I'm down to the very core of things that I'll need in my life, just that... I can't always ship 4-5 boxes and spend a couple of thousand dollars each time I move. I'm no expat!

I guess I'll always have this 'problem'. Since young, I do not want to limit myself to any geographical boundaries. I believe the world is my home, and I hunger and thirst for knowledge of different cultures and countries. I have since travelled a lot, and gained some experience. The travel bug still bites sometimes! For the past 2 yrs, I have not really planned a holiday (except short weekend trips in Thailand). Reasons being, well, the money is being spent on my course, and since I've no income anyway. Right now, my focus is on looking ahead to broaden my career opportunities.

Are your possessions weighing you down? Don't you just want to buy a home and settle down, and you don't have to worry about all that? No! That's not the question. Even if I know I will suddenly lose them all in a fire the next day, I will still be on my current quest. In any case, if you find yourself asking the questions above, then you'll be putting the cart before the horse.
