On the other hand, I'm prob glad I've an excuse not to be around at this time, what with all the boring relatives, stiffling atmosphere, usual questions.... maybe it's something like Christmas for the farangs. But the good thing with Christmas is that it's with the immediate family - no need to visit relatives you don't really care about. It's over a meal, and you can make excuses for not participating in conversations by stuffing your face, or at least participate cos' they are genuinely concerned about your life. Apart from the reunion dinner on the eve, it's typically a 'tea' session when you go visiting. How much kueh lapis, pineapple tarts, agar agar jelly, mini shrimp popiah can you really eat?? With sugared soda drinks??
48THB for a large bottle of Singha beer on a Friday evening, to close the first week of school again, watching the BKK skyline get dark, waiting to go out for dinner, deep house music in the background.... life is pretty good, I can say!
