Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!!

Yes, the 2009 Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived! True to its tradition, by the 3rd weekend of November, this wine is exported throughout all over the world, and especially enjoyed in Japan.

This year produced a bright crimson color, fruity to the nose, raspberry and cherries to the palette, light bodied, with a clean soft tannin finish. My advice, finish the bottle in one go, it's never meant to be kept for too long!

On the other hand, my forays into the Chinese produce market made a discovery of spring onions that has be weighed, costing about 6.90euro/kg. No more S$0.50 for a bunch. My bunch cost me about 1.50euro, where in SG, I wouldn't dream of paying more than S$0.80. Well, that's life as I choose it. So I bought some pork and made Ginger and Spring Onion stir fry (Jiang Chong) Delish with plain Thai rice. I might try Fermented Soya beans stir fry next.

Funny how that I'm far from home, I tend to cook more Chinese... but real Chinese! Not like those they sell in the Parisian traiteurs. I tried a few... they always have something not-quite-right. On the other hand, I had plentiful of good Vietnamese.
